OLDER CHILDREN
Many additional needs children find it difficult to access mainstream play facilities, for a variety of reasons.
At our PARC Centre we have a great range of clubs and activities on offer for school age children, running throughout the week, including weekends and during the school holidays. This gives the families of additional needs children a break and opportunity to undertake other activities, safe in the knowledge their children are being cared for.
All of our play sessions are led by experienced, NVQ Level 3 staff (or higher) who are trained in first aid and Child Safeguarding.
Staff and volunteers are also DBS/CRB checked before they join PARC. Children also receive one to one care on their first visit to the centre to fully assess their needs. By attending these play sessions children gain a range of skills, make new friends and above all have fun in a safe and secure environment that caters for their individual needs.
Parents are not required to stay for any of these sessions.
Children over the age of 5 will be signposted to the sessions that best suit their needs, either Whizzy, Vulnerable or Youth Club.
A one to one carer is given to all children for a settling in period. For children who require a one to one playworker for either medical
or behavioural needs, then this will be continued for every session the child accesses.
