The Virgin London Marathon is the biggest fundraising event in the world, raising a staggering £830 million for charities since it started in 1981.
We have 5 places each year, as well as some runners who choose to use their ballot entry to raise funds for PARC, making it one of our biggest
and most popular annual fundraising activities.
Half of our volunteers have never run a marathon before... being spurred on by a passion to support a charity close to their hearts.
In the past, over £8000 has been raised each year by our marathon runners, enabling us to continue to provide our specialist services.

Running the 26.2 miles in the London Marathon is an Epic Challenge!
Here you can meet the amazing volunteers who are taking on the task for 2017.
Please help us get behind this year’s runners for PARC, making a donation if you can and help raise vital funds for children
and young adults with additional needs.

JODIE, SALLY & JAYNE
"Why the marathon? Well we are still asking ourselves that very question!! Despite thinking of ourselves as relatively fit and healthy, we did not think for a second that this would be an easy task for us to undertake. We will all probably admit to being slightly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of training and dedication needed for this. Believe us when we say that it is NOT an easy undertaking. That being said, we are giving it our all and hope to do PARC and the children proud by ending up with a fairly decent time at the end.
Donate what you can, we'll do the rest!"

PAUL
“Whilst I’ve been aware of PARC for some time, on a recent visit to their centre, it really hit home just how much they do and how much they have to fundraise, to keep on providing such an important facility.
I would be really happy to raise the sponsorship and run the London Marathon for such a great cause.”

DEBBIE
"I am very lucky to have been allocated a place to run for PARC. I have two young family members who use the centre on a regular basis and they have benefitted greatly from it. The staff are brilliant, very caring and totally committed. I've been there a few times and it's a very happy place as well as being somewhere to help families who are bringing up children with additional needs. If you can donate a pound or two, please do. It really does help to run the centre for the benefit of the youngsters and their families!"

OLIVER
"This is a charity very close to my heart as I am currently working as a physiotherapist within a practice which is helping children with disabilities fulfil their potential and aiding their physical development. With the vast majority of children this involves helping them learn to walk or improve their independence with every day activities. I therefore currently work with numerous children who attend PARC and am constantly being told about the fantastic opportunities provided at the centre by parents & families alike. I would like your help in securing its financial health for the coming year. The centre needs funding in order to make sure that the children can still access the facilities at a subsidised rate and ensure the incredible work being done by staff can continue! Please give what you can."

LIZ, JENNY & KELLY
"Get In The Swim owners (Liz, Jenny and Kelly) are running the London Marathon 2017 to raise money for PARC (Essex) because they provide a great service to some of our swimmers, we strongly support the services they provide and so do several of our customers. We chose this charity as PARC provide a great service to some of our swimmers."
